What's Open and Closed in Windsor-Essex Family Day?

Families throughout Ontario will be enjoying time together for Family Day Monday.

This means government organisations and businesses are closed or on abbreviated hours. Family Day is a statutory holiday in the province.

All provincial and municipal offices will be closed Monday.

All Beer Store and LCBO locations are closed Family Day, with regular hours resuming Tuesday.

All Windsor Public Library and Essex County Library branches will be closed Monday.

Windsor Crossing outlet mall is open 10am to 6pm Monday. Devonshire Mall in Windsor is open 11am to 6pm for its annual Family Day celebration, and Tecumseh Mall is open noon to 5pm.

Some chain restaurants and big-box stores will be closed or on restricted hours Family Day. Be sure to phone ahead to avoid disappointment.

The 311 call centre will be closed, but the 211 service line will be open 24 hours as usual throughout Windsor and Essex County Monday.

Residential garbage and recyclable collection will be delayed one day due to the holiday. The weekly recyclable collection is not affected. Commercial garbage collection usually scheduled for Monday will proceed as usual.

The public drop-off depot on Central Ave and E.C. Row is closed Family Day.

There is no parking enforcement in Windsor on Monday, and all metered street spaces are free. The city's parking payment offices will be closed, but payments will still be taken online.

All community centres and customer care centres in the city of Windsor will be closed Monday except for previously-scheduled rentals. All indoor pools will be closed except the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre which will be open for adult swim, and adult short-course fit lanes from 10am to 4pm. The fitness centre will be open from 6am to 8pm.

The WFCU Centre has openings for ice rentals on Monday, be sure to call ahead. Otherwise, all city of Windsor arenas are closed Family Day.

Free ice skating will be available at Charles Clark Square downtown from 8:30am to 11pm Family Day, weather permitting. Ice skating is also taking place at Lanspeary Park with rentals from 8am to 11am and free public skating from 1pm to 3pm.

Adventure Bay Family Water Park will be open 10am to 8pm Family Day.

Transit Windsor buses will run on Sunday-holiday schedules. The tunnel bus to Detroit will operate on a regular weekday schedule. Transit Windsor's customer service office downtown will be open from 7am to 9pm, though the sales office on North Service Rd E will be closed Monday.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
