Body Pulled From Detroit River

Police are investigating after a body was pulled from the Detroit River.

The Windsor Police Service says on Tuesday just before noon, officers responded to the area of Riverside Dr. near Caron Ave. after a resident reported seeing someone in the water. Initially, officers located a man in the river near the shore who was able to make it back out safely. He was not injured but was taken to hospital as a precaution.

While officers were at the scene, another person was reportedly seen floating in the river. With the assistance of the U.S. Coast Guard, a dead body was pulled from the water. The person's gender, age and identity are unknown at this time.

The investigation into the circumstances of the death is ongoing. No further information has been released.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
