Windsor Political Icon Dies

A former Windsor MP has passed away.

Howard McCurdy died on Tuesday at the age of 85.

He was a long time Canadian civil rights activist, politician and science professor at the University of Windsor. McCurdy was elected to Windsor council in 1979 and New Democratic Party MP in 1984. He was Canada's second black MP.

He is survived by his wife, four children and ten grandchildren.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
