Hwy. 3 Widening In Essex County Gets A Boost

The widening of Hwy. 3 from Essex to Leamington may soon get a shot in the arm.

Essex County Warden Tom Bain says Premier Kathleen Wynne has promised him a meeting with new Transportation Minister Kathryn McGarry to talk about expanding that stretch of highway from two lanes to four lanes.

In a letter, the ministry says it recognizes the importance of promoting trade and transportation to the Windsor-Essex region and is pleased to hear that a number of local organizations support the expansion.

McGarry adds that Ontario remains committed to finishing its plans to widen Hwy. 3 to four lanes and will continue to consider its expansion for future funding.

A date and location have been set for the meeting yet.
