Ouellette Streetscape Project Picks Up

Construction is picking up again on Ouellette Ave.

Starting Monday February 26, 2018 Ouellette Ave will be closed between Wyandotte St. and Elliott St. until October. The closure is scheduled for the completion of streetscape improvements through the downtown street.

The improvements will focus on resurfacing the sidewalk and roadway and will extend from building face to building face on each side. Key features will include a revised cross section to facilitate two lanes of traffic with on-street parking, new street and pedestrian lighting, the introduction of a “flex zone” to allow for patios and public events. new paving materials, and planting features.

Pedestrians will be able to access all local businesses throughout the construction period.

Transit Windsor routes through the area will be detoured.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
