Man Arrested After Investigation Uncovers Stolen Goods

A stolen licence plate has led to a Windsor man facing charges.

Windsor police say their Property Crimes Unit spotted a vehicle around 2pm Wednesday at the intersection of Niagara St. and Marentette Ave. Investigators say the driver appeared to be arguing with a pedestrian.

Police determined that the licence plate attached to the vehicle was registered as stolen. The vehicle was stopped just down the street and a search by the officers uncovered stolen property from a previously reported burglary.

Constable Andy Drouillard says the driver was arrested without incident.

A 27-year-old man is charged with two counts of possession of stolen property. He has been released on a promise to appear for a future court date.

Anyone with additional information on this matter is asked to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4830 or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
