No Charges In Leamington OPP SIU Investigation

The province's police watchdog is no longer investigating the Ontario Provincial Police in Leamington over an incident that happened in August of 2017.

The Special Investigations Unit says they terminated the investigation because the man involved did not suffer serious injuries.

In August of 2017, police and social workers went to a man's home to apprehend him under the Mental Health Act. The man would not let officers into his home. After almost an hour of negotiations, the man was apprehended and transported to hospital.

The SIU did not find any evidence to lay criminal charges.
