Man Charged After Downtown Gunfire

Several weapons charges have been laid against a 27-year-old Windsor man.

Police say a man was arrested Saturday afternoon at a hotel on Howard Ave. near Memorial Dr. in Windsor after a brief struggle with officers. The arrest stemmed from reported gunfire around 2am near Chatham St. W and Pelissier St.

Investigators say the owner of a Ford SUV that was parked in the area overnight reported a bullet hole in the vehicle's windshield and dashboard area.

Then on Sunday, officers searched a hotel room and seized 592 g of cocaine, 16 fentanyl patches, and 1.6 g of marijuana.

The man is charged with intentionally discharging a firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, assaulting a police officer, and resisting arrest. Police say additional drug charges are anticipated and the matter remains under investigation.

No firearm has been recovered.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
