Colour And Light In Tecumseh Sunday

A holiday tradition continues in one local community Sunday.

The town of Tecumseh is holding its annual Victoria Day fireworks display at Green Acres Park.

The 41st annual display is sponsored by the Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach.

This is the only scheduled fireworks show in Windsor-Essex over the long weekend, considered the unofficial start of the summer tourist season in Canada. As a result, the fireworks show draws thousands of people, taking positions on the park's hill and in nearby parking lots to watch the show.

Organizers hope people get there early, as the festivities begin at 6pm. Activities include food, balloon twisters and live music by Disaster Strike.

The promotions crews from Mix 96.7FM and Windsor's Country 95.9FM will also be on hand.

The fireworks are due to start around 9:30pm, that is if the weather cooperates. The forecast for Sunday calls for partly cloudy skies and a low of 8.

Rain date is Victoria Day Monday.
