Windsor Robbery Suspect Tasered During Arrest

A Windsor man has been charged following a robbery at a restaurant in West Windsor.

Police say a man entered a restaurant on Ojibway Parkway near the old Windsor Raceway Saturday afternoon and demanded money from an employee but left with nothing.

Witnesses say he was stopping traffic by yelling and kicking at vehicles.

Officers attempted to arrest the man but he was not compliant, retrieved a knife from his bag and began waving it around. Police dog Hasko received minor injuries while helping to arrest the suspect. Investigators say the suspect dropped the knife and continued to resist arrest, resulting in officers using a taser to gain control of the man.

A 29-year-old Windsor man suffered minor injuries during the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment. He is now charged with attempting to commit it indictable offence, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and injuring an animal.
