Careless Smoking Blamed In House Fire

Fire officials say careless smoking in a bedroom started a house fire on McKay Ave. in Windsor.

The fire was called in around 1:15am Friday at a home at 1752 McKay, just off Totten Rd.

While the home next door did not suffer fire damage, there is water and smoke damage.

In total, the damage estimate is around $100,000.

Fire officials say seven people and four dogs have been displaced.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
