Wild Ride Leads To Two Arrests

Two arrests have been made after a stolen van flipped on its side near downtown Windsor.

Police a 23-year-old woman from Belle River and a 21-year-old woman from Windsor are charged with possession of stolen property.

Police are still looking for a 21-year-old Windsor man who is believed to be the driver but fled the scene along with another man.

Investigators say they got a call Thursday afternoon about a white Dodge Caravan being stolen from a home on Bloomfield Rd. near Brock St. in west Windsor.

Officers spotted the stolen van Thursday evening in the area of McDougall Ave. and Giles Blvd. E. but the driver fled. Police called off the pursuit for public safety reasons.

Authorities say a short time later the van crashed into a garage in an alley just south of Shepherd St. W. between Victoria Ave. and Dougall Ave. They say the van also struck a hydro pole and a fence before it flipped and eventually caught fire.

The investigation continues.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Windsor police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4350, Crime Stoppers at 519-258-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.catchcrooks.com.
