Tecumseh Lawyer Faces Misconduct Allegations

A Tecumseh lawyer has a hearing with the Law Society of Ontario to determine if he engaged in professional misconduct or conduct unbecoming a lawyer licensee.

Robert Joseph Comartin is accused of not disclosing a conflict as an estate trustee and a lawyer for the property between 2004 and 2015.

Comartin is also accused of misappropriation of estate funds, failing to disclose to the court money that he paid himself from the estate, and failing to disclose that the life beneficiary was probably unable to make decisions on their own because of a disability.

Papers filed on May 24 allege he paid himself and his co-trustee around $400,000 from the estate, significantly exceeding his entitlement.

No date has been set for the hearing yet.
