Family Argument Escalates Into Assault And Arson

Windsor police have arrested a 38-year-old Windsor man after an assault and arson.

Police say a family argument broke out at a home on McDougall Ave. just south of Tuscarora St. around 2am on Wednesday. Two women told officers the man went on the front porch, assaulted them and made threats. They say the man pulled one of them back inside and continued the assault but they were able to get away.

The victims suffered minor injuries.

Officers say they could hear the sound of items possibly being damaged inside when they arrived and tried to communicate with the man but he refused to exit the home.

They then noticed that a fire had been started in the house. Officers extinguished the fire but say the man restarted it.

The man eventually exited the residence on his own and was finally arrested.

A 38-year-old man from Windsor is now charged with two counts of assault, assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering threats, arson and ten counts of breaching probation.
