Windsor Police Nab Leadfoot, Impaired Driver In Blitz

Windsor police conducted two traffic enforcement operations Friday.

WPS officers teamed up with Ontario Provincial Police on an aggressive driving blitz and a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) checkpoint.

The first initiative Friday was set up in two locations, concentrating on aggressive and distracted driving. Police stopped 49 vehicles, resulting in 94 enforcement actions. One of them involved a driver clocked going 157 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone.

The second initiative was the RIDE program, which was also set up in two locations.

Officers interviewed 438 drivers. Four enforcement actions were issued.

Police say one driver was given a roadside sobriety test. There was also an impaired driving arrest and a 90-day licence suspension, though it was not immediately clear if the charges came against the same driver.
