Leamington OPP Officers Beaten Up

Two local teens face charges after police officers in Leamington were assaulted while responding to a call back on June 10.

The Ontario Provincial Police say around 12:30am, the officers were responding to a call about a man yelling and shouting profanities at a group of people at a parking lot on Erie St. S.

When officers tried to speak with the man and de-escalate the situation, he became combative. They had to use a taser to subdue him and take him into custody.

Three officers were hurt in the process, including one that was treated at the hospital.

A 19-year-old Leamington man and an 18-year-old Windsor woman face several offences, including assaulting police, causing a disturbance, and resisting arrest.
