Tip Leads To An Arrest In Windsor Break-And-Enter

A break-and-enter suspect is in custody thanks to a tip from alert passersby.

Windsor police say they were called to a business on Ottawa St. near Langlois around 4am Friday for a report of a break-and-enter in progress. Police say alert citizens heard glass breaking and noticed that the glass in the business' front door was broken. They also spotted a man leaving the scene on a red mountain bike.

The witnesses were able to provide a description of a suspect, who was found a short time later in the area of Tecumseh Rd. E. and Lincoln Rd. The man tried to run but was arrested after a short chase.

A 39-year-old Windsor man is charged with break-and-enter.
