Leamington Death Not Caused By Fight

Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have determined the death of a Leamington man on Friday night is not suspicious.

Police launched an investigation to see if the death was caused by an earlier fight on Talbot St. at Victoria Ave. in Leamington but now say it is unrelated. The 54-year-old victim, Daniel Sauve, later died in hospital.

A 31-year-old Windsor man remains in custody charged with assault, two counts of assaulting a police officer while threatening to use a weapon, and failing to comply with an undertaking.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
