Quick Action By Windsor Police Results In Robbery Arrest

It was a case of being in the right place at the right time for Windsor police.

Quick action by officers on routine patrol resulted in the arrest of a man in connection with a robbery downtown Wednesday morning.

Police say the incident happened around 8am in the area of Ouellette Ave. and Maiden Lane. A cruiser was on a normal patrol near the location when officers spotted an elderly man on the ground. The victim and some Good Samaritans began pointing in the direction of someone who was walking away. Police say a man had knocked the victim down and taken his backpack.

When the man tried to run, officers chased him and then arrested him and returned the backpack to the victim.

The suspect, a 34-year-old Windsor man, has been charged with robbery. The victim suffered minor injuries.
