Windsor Celebrates Labour Day

The Windsor & District Labour Council marks this year's Labour Day with a call to action to help those who are less fortunate.

Canned goods and other non-perishable food items will be collected for the Unemployed Help Centre. They can be dropped off at the staging area for the annual Labour Day Parade, or at the final destination of the parade, the Fogolar Furlan Club.

In past years, thousands of unionized workers have taken part in the parade.

It starts at 10am at the Unifor 200/444 Hall on Turner Rd. and will take about 90 minutes to arrive at the Fogolar Furlan Club. The route takes it along Tecumseh Rd. E to Walker Rd., right on Digby to Turner Rd. and then onto North Service Rd.  Those roads will be closed to traffic during the parade.

Festivities including speeches from prominent local politicians and labour leaders, hot dogs, and activities for the children. There is also a classic car show for the gearheads.
