Alert police officers foil break-in near downtown

Some alert police officers are getting credit for foiling a break and enter in progress in downtown Windsor.

Police said officers were on patrol on Pelissier Street just south of Elliott Street Thursday night when they saw a man scaling down a pipe leading to a roof-top. They investigated and found a window with the screen punctured and the glass broken.

A 38-year-old Windsor man is charged after he was found with suspected break and enter tools.

A toy firearm was also discovered in the eavestrough.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
