Charges laid in truck crash

A truck driver is facing charges after a collision on Highway 401.

Ontario Provincial Police said the incident happened around 2 p.m. Thursday. A tractor-trailer somehow left the eastbound lanes of the highway near kilometre-marker 33 in Lakeshore and drove off the road.

An unnamed 52-year-old woman from Woodstock, who was driving the truck, suffered minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved.

The driver has been charged with careless driving, unsafe operation of a commercial motor vehicle, and failure to accurately complete a daily inspection report.

OPP Constable Jim Root has told BlackburnNewsWindsor.com that charges against the company have yet to be confirmed. An investigation is ongoing.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
