Charges laid in truck crash

A truck driver is facing charges after a collision on Highway 401.

Ontario Provincial Police said the incident happened around 2 p.m. Thursday. A tractor-trailer somehow left the eastbound lanes of the highway near kilometre-marker 33 in Lakeshore and drove off the road.

An unnamed 52-year-old woman from Woodstock, who was driving the truck, suffered minor injuries. No other vehicles were involved.

The driver has been charged with careless driving, unsafe operation of a commercial motor vehicle, and failure to accurately complete a daily inspection report.

OPP Constable Jim Root has told BlackburnNewsWindsor.com that charges against the company have yet to be confirmed. An investigation is ongoing.
