Windsor officer charged with assault

A Windsor police officer has been charged with assault.

Shortly after midnight Friday evening (early morning Sept. 22), police were called to the intersection of Greenpark Boulevard and Wyandotte Street E.

For an unknown reason, a group of vehicles had stopped and a number of people had exited their vehicles.

Multiple people reported being assaulted during the incident.

Windsor police discovered one of those at the scene was an off-duty WPS constable with 20 years of service. He was arrested, charged with four counts of assault and impaired driving. The constable has been suspended.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
