Lakeshore warns hydrant flushing could cause dirty water

The Town of Lakeshore is warning about possible discoloured water over the next several weeks because of hydrant flushing.

Town officials said about 1,400 hydrants will be flushed between now and November.

Hydrant flushing is part of the town’s maintenance to ensure hydrants are in good working condition and to maintain good water quality. Flushing will occur between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays.

The town said residents should run the cold water tap until the water is clear if discoloured water is noticed. Call Town Hall at 519-728-2488 if the water does not clear.
