Tecumseh fire causes $20K in damages

A weekend house fire in Tecumseh caused $20,000 in damage.

Tecumseh Fire and Rescue said it happened on Sunday. Firefighters were called around 5:30 p.m. to a home on St. Pierre Street near Clapp Street for a report of a structure fire. When they arrived they noticed light smoke coming from the house.

The fire, which originated in the kitchen according to fire officials, was quickly put under control and declared out within half an hour.

An investigator was on scene Sunday evening, and the cause was listed as unattended cooking. There were no injuries reported.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
