Local home prices soar

The Windsor-Essex County Association of Realtors said the average price of a local home has jumped by almost $50,000.

The association said the average price of a home went from $255,513 in September of 2017 to $301,966 last month.

There were also 707 homes listed for sale last month, which is up from 660 in September of last year. The local realtors said there are a total of 1,095 homes for sale across Windsor-Essex.

Monthly home sales were slower than last year with 456 properties sold in September. That's down from 482 in September of 2017.

Local real estate agents said the most popular style of home sold last month was a bungalow (86), followed by two storey (79), one-and-a-half storey (63), ranch (56) and raised ranch (49).

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
