University to name new parkette after prominent family

The University of Windsor will hold a ceremony Tuesday to name a new parkette after Charles and Anna Clark.

The spot at the corner of Sunset Ave. and Wyandotte St. W will be named The Charles and Anna Clark Corner.

Charles Clark served as Chair of the University's Board of Governors from 1971 to 1974 and was the Chancellor from 1993 to 1996. In 1975, he was awarded the UWindsor Alumni Award.

This is not the first public space to be named after him. Downtown, Charles Clark Square is also named in his honour.

The ceremony on Tuesday starts at 11 a.m.

Clark served on many community and charitable organizations, including the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, the Windsor Rotary Club, and the Greater Windsor Community Foundation. He was also the first chair of the Essex County District Health Council.
