Costly kitchen fire in Leamington

The Leamington Fire Department is reminding people to not leave combustible items on or near stove tops or heating devices, even if you think they are off.

Fire officials said a kitchen fire on Mersea Road 1 near the Leamington Airport Wednesday afternoon caused $15,000 in damage. They said the burner was accidentally turned on.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
