Police arrest sexual assault suspect

Windsor police have arrested a suspect in a sexual assault that happened last month.

Police launched an investigation after a woman was sexually assaulted on September 28. According to police, the woman had been communicating electronically with a man and she arranged to meet him. She went to a home on Giles Boulevard East near Marion Avenue. While she was there, she was assaulted, held against her will, and robbed.

Investigators from the Major Crimes Branch of Windsor police identified a suspect and made an arrest.

Colton Byrne, 22, of Windsor is charged with sexual assault, forcible confinement, robbery, assault, and two counts of breach of recognizance.

None of the charges have been proven in court.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
