Stricter smoking rules outside recreational facilities

Changes to the Smoke-Free Ontario Act means smoking will no longer be allowed outside recreational facilities.

The legislation takes legal precedence over the City of Windsor by-law which allowed smoking in designated areas.

Now smoking will not be allowed within 20 meters of the property.

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit will enforce the legislation locally.

You can find more information about the legislative changes on the health unit's website.
