Windsor cabbie assaulted, passenger charged

A Windsor man has been charged with assault with a weapon after a cab driver was roughed up.

On Tuesday afternoon, police said a cab driver was assaulted by the passenger in his vehicle on Jefferson Boulevard near Queen Elizabeth Drive. Investigators said the suspect became upset and allegedly held a taser to the driver in a threatening manner. The driver was able to get out of the taxi to call police.

Police said the suspect also allegedly kicked the cab and damaged the door.

Jacob Wrightman, 20, from Windsor was arrested at the scene and is charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon, mischief under $5,000, and breach of probation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
