The weather is turning colder, so that means the city of Windsor has begun preparing for the next edition of Bright Lights.
The city began preparations over the weekend for the second annual holiday lights spectacular at Jackson Park. The first stage of equipment installation is taking place and that means there will be restrictions on access to the park.
The parking lot will be periodically closed this week to allow for equipment to be unloaded, according to Jan Wilson, the city's manager of parks, recreation, culture and facilities. The parking lot will be fully open again next Monday.
Also, access to the Queen Elizabeth II Sunken Gardens will be closed, though people will still be able to walk the perimeter of the gardens while installation takes place.
Wilson said the installation is happen in phases to minimize disruption and keep the park open as much as possible.
The first edition of Bright Lights Windsor was a hit last holiday season. The city said over 60,000 people turned out for the displays, which were begun as part of the Canada 150 celebration as well as for Windsor's 125th birthday.
