UPDATE: One displaced in Windsor apartment fire

Firefighters handled a fire at a downtown Windsor apartment building Sunday night.

Windsor Fire and Rescue says via Twitter that they were called shortly after 8 p.m. to the Cencourse Project in the Ouellette Ave. and Wyandotte St. E. area on a report of an apartment fire. Fire officials say the apartment is on the fourth floor of the building and has been brought under control. Crews are still on scene venting smoke from the building, according to the tweet.

The fire was reported out before 9 p.m. Smoke was being vented from the building and fire officials say light haze was on at least two floors at that time.

There have been no reports of injuries, though at least one person was displaced.

An investigation Monday revealed that the fire was confined to one unit with mostly smoke damage. Damage is estimated at $10,000.
