UPDATE: Woman injured in downtown Essex crash

Ontario Provincial Police say a collision in downtown Essex has resulted in a woman being injured.

Callers to the BlackburnNewsWindsor.com newsroom say the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. at the so-called "four corners" area of the downtown area, at Talbot St. N. and Centre St. Witnesses tell the newsroom that a tractor-trailer is involved.

OPP Constable Jim Root said that the woman, a pedestrian, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening njuries.

That area was closed to vehicular traffic for over an hour, but Root said it was reopened around 5:30 p.m. Drivers in the area were being asked to avoid the area completely.

The investigation is ongoing.
