What's closed in Windsor-Essex on Monday?

With Remembrance Day falling on a Sunday this year, there may be some changes to what will be open in Windsor-Essex.

Windsor-Essex formally observed the centennial of the end of the "war to end all wars" on Sunday, but some institutions will have different operating hours Monday.

Most retail businesses and restaurants will be open as usual Monday, including Devonshire Mall, Tecumseh Mall and Windsor Crossing outlet mall. All of the major school boards will have classes as usual Monday, along with the University of Windsor and St. Clair College. ServiceOntario offices will be open as well.

All branches of the Windsor Public Library and Essex County Library will be closed on Monday.

Many town halls in Essex County, such as in Tecumseh and Lakeshore, will be closed. Contact your municipality's office directly to confirm and avoid a wasted trip.

In the city of Windsor, all city offices will be closed. City Council's planning, heritage and economic development committee meeting, normally held on a Monday, has been pushed to Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The next Windsor City Council meeting is Monday, November 19 at 6 p.m.

The 311 call centre will be closed on Monday, though the 211 call centre will be operating as usual.

There will be no residential garbage collection in Windsor on Monday. Residential garbage, yard waste and recyclable collection will be delayed one day. Commercial collection, though, will take place as scheduled. The public trash and chemical waste drop-off site on Central Ave. will be open.

All city of Windsor community centres, arenas and indoor pools are open Monday for regular programs. Adventure Bay Family Water Park will also be open as usual. However, the Chimczuk Museum and Francois Baby House are closed Monday, their usual days off.

Transit Windsor buses and the tunnel bus to Detroit will operate Monday on their normal weekday schedules.

There will be no parking enforcement in Windsor Monday and ticket payment centres will be closed. All metered parking will be free.
