Tunnel hours change for the holidays

Windsor Detroit Borderlink Limited is reporting that the Windsor-Detroit tunnel will have different opening and closing hours during the upcoming holiday season.

The tunnel is under renovation and is currently closed nightly from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Sunday to Thursday, but that will change starting on Wednesday. The tunnel will be open all day Wednesday, Thursday and Friday then open all day again December 23-25.

However, it will be closed overnight from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. for construction December 26 and 27 but reopen December 28 and 29. The tunnel will close again December 30 overnight between 8 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. for construction but will be open for travellers again December 31 and January 1.

A new ceiling is being installed in the river section of the tunnel to replace the ceiling slab that served the tunnel for the past 85 years.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
