Meloche remains deputy mayor in Amherstburg after recount

The unofficial result of the Amherstburg deputy mayor vote recount is the same as the official result on civic election night October 22.

The town recounted the vote on Wednesday and said Leo Meloche once again beat Diane Pouget by four votes. Councillor Pouget requested the recount, which cost around $25,000.

A total of 7,403 ballots were cast.

The vote tabulator company had warned the town that a voting machine recount is tough to overturn, saying that the results always turn out the same as long as the operations are done the same way they were on election day.
