Man charged with drunk driving after head-on crash

A Kingsville man has been charged with impaired driving after allegedly driving down the wrong way on Highway 401.

Provincial police said a car travelling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the 401 near St. Clair College Monday night struck another vehicle head-on. The driver of the vehicle that was struck suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. The driver of the vehicle accused of going the wrong way was not hurt.

Antonio Braga, 73, of Kingsville is charged with impaired driving.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.

"The decision by drivers to continue to drive while impaired on our roadways has a lifelong impact. This driving behaviour has always been unacceptable and for those who think they won't get caught, think again," said Essex County OPP Detachment Commander Glenn Miller. "The eyes of all drivers are on you and we continue to encourage the public to contact the OPP immediately of suspected impaired or distracted driving."
