Crash leads to drug-impaired driving charge

A 19-year-old Windsor man faces several charges following an early morning collision.

Police said they received a call about a crash at the intersection of Roselawn Drive and McKay Avenue around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

When officers arrived, they found a vehicle with front-end damage that had hit an unoccupied parked car. After speaking with the driver, the officers said they suspected him of being impaired and he was given a drug recognition test. The man was arrested at the scene and then taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

He was charged with driving a motor vehicle while impaired by a drug, failing to surrender a drivers licence, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance. He has since been released and will be given a future court date.
