Buying a home? The average price dips in November

The Windsor-Essex County Association of Realtors says it cost slightly less on average to buy a home in November.

Last month, it was $292,619. That is up from $261,607 a year ago, but down 4.2 per cent from October when prices hit a record high of $305,552.

The association said 458 properties were sold in November. That is down 29.2 per cent from October and 6.15 per cent from November of last year.

The number of listings was down too. A total of 565 properties were put up for sale last month, compared to 801 in October, and 575 a year ago, a drop of 29.4 per cent and 1.7 per cent respectively.

The most popular style of home sold in November was the bungalow, followed by the 1 1/2 storey, the two-storey, and the raised ranch.
