Need for speed costly for Lakeshore woman

A woman charged with speeding on Christmas Eve has ended up on the naughty list.

The Ontario Provincial Police said it happened around 2:30 p.m. on Monday. An OPP officer conducting traffic enforcement for the Traffic Management Unit stopped a vehicle on Highway 401 in Lakeshore. The vehicle was clocked going 70 kilometres per hour over the 100 kilometres per hour speed limit.

The 48-year-old Lakeshore woman was charged with racing a motor vehicle. Her licence was suspended on the spot and her vehicle was impounded in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act.

She is expected to appear in a Windsor court in February 2019 to answer to the charge.
