Man passed out behind wheel charged in Tecumseh

The Ontario Provincial Police has charged a 56-year-old man after they found a driver slumped behind the wheel of his vehicle.

A driver on Concession 11 in Tecumseh called the OPP after a vehicle stopped in the middle of the road around 3 p.m. Sunday. The driver appeared to be unconscious.

Police and paramedics woke the man up. He showed signs he was impaired, so officers arrested him.

Ronald Lafferty of Tecumseh will appear in a Windsor court on January 16 to answer to charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and driving a motor vehicle with more than the legal amount of alcohol in his blood.

Police impounded the vehicle and suspended the driver's license.

The charges have not been proven in court.
