Fiat Chrysler Automobiles commits $535K to FIRST Robotics Teams

A total of 12 local high school robotics teams will benefit from a funding commitment from the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Foundation.

The foundation is committing $535,000 in grants to 120 FIRST Robotics teams in Canada and the U.S. to cover the cost of competing. The funding includes cash for things like registration fees, team shirts, and materials.

More than 3,000 students will be able to participate in project-based, hands-on learning about coding, programming, and engineering.

The schools in Windsor-Essex are the only schools in Canada receiving funding. They are:

* Maranatha Christian Academy * Tecumseh Vista Academy * Cardinal Carter High School * Kingsville District High School * Sandwich Secondary School * Ecole secondaire de Lamonth-Cadillac * Vincent Massey Secondary School * Belle River High School * St. Anne's Catholic High School * Ecole secondaire l'Essor * Villanova Secondary School * Holy Names High School

The FIRST Championship Detroit will be held April 24-27, 2019.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
