UPDATE: El Mayor restaurant fire under investigation (GALLERY)

Wyandotte Street between Langlois and Marenette has reopened to traffic after a big blaze at El Mayor restaurant.

Police shut down the road shortly after 1 a.m. on Thursday and reopened it around 6 p.m.

Damage to the popular restaurant is severe.

Windsor Fire and Rescue Services Fire Prevention Officer John Lee told BlackburnNews.com about 24 firefighters, two engines, two aerial trucks and a fire rescue vehicle responded to the call.

An investigator from the Ontario Fire Marshal's office is on scene to try and determine what caused the fire, how much damage it created and where it began.

The investigation could take a few days.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
