Man suffers minor burns in garage fire

Unattended cooking is getting the blame for a garage fire in Leamington that resulted in injuries for one man.

Leamington Fire Services reported the fire on Thursday after extinguishing the blaze on Foundry Street at around 5:30 p.m.   The fire department said a stove was left unattended by the homeowner who was cooking at the time.

Fire officials said a man had to be treated for minor burns by EMS.

Damage is estimated at around $15,000.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
