Spitfires shoot down Firebirds 4-3

The Windsor Spitfires earned their third straight win on Thursday with a 4-3 victory over the Flint Firebirds.

Luke Boka gave Windsor a 1-0 advantage with a goal 11:17 into the first period, and Jean-Luc Foudy and Nathan Staios each added another goal early in the second to extend their lead.

However, Firebirds made it on the board with three back-to-back goals in the second to tie things up.

Will Cuylle scored the game-winning goal for the Spitfires 13:11 into the final frame.

The Spitfires made 25 shots on net against the Firebirds and goaltender Kari Piiroinen made 30 saves for Windsor.

The Spitfires are in Sault Ste. Marie on Friday to take on the Greyhounds at 7:05 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
