New year, new local lotto winners

Two local men have won some substantial money in the lottery to kick-start the new year.

Emanuele Calamita of LaSalle won $78,329 in the January 4 LOTTO MAX draw.

“This is my first big win!” said Calamita, while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings.

The 80-year-old retired tailor, father and grandfather is still contemplating his good fortune.

“I’ll invest it for now but I’m still thinking about what to do next,” he smiled. “This win is really cool and it’s also very emotional.”

Daniel Desrosiers of Tecumseh also won $62,984 in the POKER LOTTO ALL IN jackpot on January 8.

The winning ticket was purchased at M & R Country Store on County Road 42 in Windsor.
