Dark licence plate leads to large guns & drugs seizure in Windsor

A burnt out light has led to a big bust in Windsor.

Windsor Police noticed a vehicle in the area of Tecumseh Rd. and Howard Ave. on Tuesday at approximately 8:30 p.m. without a rear licence plate light and stopped the driver.

During the stop, officers noticed a big bag containing 300 g of cannabis.  The legal limit is 30 g. They also found three firearms, 50 g of suspected cocaine, and 20 g of suspected crystal methamphetamine. They said the vehicle was associated to a known suspended driver.

Police have charged 22-year-old Hussein Al Hayawi with eight firearm related offences, and three drug-related offences.

Police said the case remains under investigation, and it is anticipated that he will face several firearm and drug-related charges.

More information is expected in the next few days.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
