Dark licence plate leads to large guns & drugs seizure in Windsor

A burnt out light has led to a big bust in Windsor.

Windsor Police noticed a vehicle in the area of Tecumseh Rd. and Howard Ave. on Tuesday at approximately 8:30 p.m. without a rear licence plate light and stopped the driver.

During the stop, officers noticed a big bag containing 300 g of cannabis.  The legal limit is 30 g. They also found three firearms, 50 g of suspected cocaine, and 20 g of suspected crystal methamphetamine. They said the vehicle was associated to a known suspended driver.

Police have charged 22-year-old Hussein Al Hayawi with eight firearm related offences, and three drug-related offences.

Police said the case remains under investigation, and it is anticipated that he will face several firearm and drug-related charges.

More information is expected in the next few days.
