The family of an 83-year-old south Windsor man who disappeared for eight-and-a-half hours Thursday night want to thank the Good Samaritan who came to his rescue.
Lee Markham, who has dementia, was driving home when he got lost.
Frantic, his family called Windsor police.

"They scoured the city, looked in every park, every church parking lot, at the KFCs and legions and anywhere you think an older man would go," said his daughter, Michelle Hadrian.
Instead of returning to his home in South Windsor, he got lost. In Essex, he got into an accident and his car ended up in a field.
"The wind was howling. I was just so distraught. I couldn't even think straight. I couldn't sleep," she said. "And then I started praying so hard around that time, and a few minutes later, after saying the rosary, the police called and said he was home. It was just a miracle that he wasn't frost-bitten."

"I guess my dad was able to get out of the vehicle and flag down a car and whoever was in the car he flagged down, drove him all the way home to South Windsor at 2:30 in the morning," Hadrian said.
Hadrian said the family would like to speak with whoever picked her father up. They would like to thank the person and find out where her father was picked up. They are still looking for his vehicle.
