UPDATE: Electrical issue causes fire at Leamington home

Damage is pegged at around $10,000 after a fire broke out at a rooming house in Leamington.

The Leamington fire department reported the fire on Marlborough Street West on Wednesday just after 6 p.m.  Fire officials said 17 firefighters responded to the blaze, which started on the front porch.

All residents have reportedly made it out of the building and no one was injured or displaced.

The cause of the fire is believed to have been electrical in nature.

Marlborough Street West was closed between Erie and Fox while emergency crews were at the scene.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
